General Atomics Electromagnetic Systems (GA-EMS) is a supplier of advanced electromagnetic systems, related power equipment and other high technology products for a variety of government and commercial applications. These include products such as the design and fabrication of linear motors, superconducting and conventional rotating motors, power inverters, high-energy capacitors, radiation monitoring systems, high-voltage direct current power distribution systems, and numerous other products.
We have an exciting opportunity our Systems Integration Department. This position directly supports the Systems Integration, Requirements & Verification Manager by leading the team responsible for managing requirement development, requirements verification of EMS products.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES:
Act as technical lead of small team responsible for requirements development and verification of design requirements.
Focus on obtaining customer and stakeholder approval and buy-in in support of:
System and derived requirements are met.
Drive rapid resolution of delays that impact verification. Real-time, thorough communication with management and leadership is required.
Lead program level Verification Cross Reference Matrix (VCRM) efforts, provide status and drive real-time resolution of delays impacting verification, work closely with the customer, at site, during acceptance tests, work to obtain customer /stakeholder acceptance of completed VCRM
Synchronize verification cross-reference matrix with requirement revisions, design changes, master schedule dates, schedule delays, and changes to planned tests and analyses.
Collaborate daily with GA and customer systems engineering, design, logistics, and other teams on verifications related to inspection, test, and analysis.
Assess proposed design and requirement changes to determine impacts to verification, including verification schedule.
Create and maintain comprehensive system requirements/specifications including hardware and software
Participate in the internal and external technical project/program reviews including system requirements review, preliminary and critical/detailed design reviews to ensure proposed design meets defined product requirements
Support development of new/revised design requirements acting as a senior engineer lead providing support to junior team members.
Support earned value management; responsible for schedule/cost performance on assigned areas.
Evaluate technical and scope details for proposals. Absorb detailed specifications, applicable industry standard requirements and develop comprehensive understanding of GA-EMS product offerings
Maintain and update relevant processes.
Performs other duties as required

Typically requires a bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; nine or more years of experience with a bachelors degree, seven or more years of experience with a masters degree, or four or more years with a PhD. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.
Five or more year’s hands-on experience in requirements verification including verification cross-reference /requirements traceability matrices.
Five or more year’s experience as a systems engineer.
Sufficient technical breadth to rapidly learn complex design.
For more years experience in Earned Value Management work package management or similar schedule/cost framework.
Utilize MBSE tools to develop models for collaborative design development, system analysis and verification
Prior experience in systems structure, requirement development, derivation and decomposition
Participate in development of system architecture, trades studies, requirements, design, and system analysis events
Highly desirable: experience using CORE requirements management tool. Experience using DOORS is helpful.
