We have an exciting opportunity for a System & Qualification Test Engineer in our Project Engineering group located in Poway, CA.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Performing System Test & Qualification Engineering activities on Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) programs. Under minimal supervision, will guide the completion of test and evaluation of small test programs and determine and develop approach to T&E solutions.

  • Duties to include system level Qualification, Verification and Validation Testing of hardware and software with emphasis placed on deriving & tracking test requirements, generation of system level Test Plans and Procedures, conducting SIL/Ground/Flight testing, and participating at customer & internal technical test reviews.

  • Will be required to support the test conductor for ground and flight tests.

  • Will be required to understand all aspects of SIL/Ground/Flight testing, coordinate and conduct SIL testing as well as travel to flight test facilities for ground and flight testing and provide field support as needed.

  • Emphasis will be placed on system integration with coordinating/conducting ground and flight testing at GA-ASI flight test facilities.

  • Responsible for observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.

Job Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a bachelors or masters degree in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and two or more years of engineering experience with a bachelors degree.

  • Must have a general understanding of engineering concepts, principles, and theory with technical experience demonstrating the application of those concepts while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.

  • Must possess the ability to understand new concepts quickly and apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment and organize work assignments to meet established timetables.

  • Good communication, computer, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required, as well as the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

  • Must be able to work extended hours as required.

  • An EIT (Engineer in Training) certificate is desirable.

  • Prior Department of Defense (DoD) Operational Test (OT) experience highly desired. E.G. AFOTEC, OPTEVFOR, MCOTEA or ATEC.

  • Analysis expertise desired with an emphasis on data collection, ad hoc queries and suitability measures. Experience with analysis tools such as MATLAB, STK, FOQA or other products.

  • Prior military flight test experience to include Test Conductor or Test Director roles highly desired.

  • Previous expertise and working knowledge of the National Airspace System and UAS operating rules and regulations thereof. Prior flight experience civil or prior military aircrew desired
