We have an exciting opportunity for a Deployable Sensor Operator to join our Lasers and Advanced Sensors team located in Rancho Bernardo, CA.
This position is to operate advanced EO/IR sensors and assist in their development. The successful candidate will be involved in the development, integration and testing of electro-optic infrared (EO/IR) sensors. The candidate must be able to deploy to both CONUS and OCONUS locations. With minimal direction, this position exercises considerable latitude in performing aircraft sensor payload control during ground and flight operations including mission planning, execution, briefing, debriefing, aircrew resource management and ground and flight safety. Project administration functions maybe assigned as needed.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Works with General Atomics flight operations and US Military Forces in Ground Control Stations and Tactical Operations Centers supporting unmanned located in CONUS and OCONUS.
Actively participates in ground and flight operation efforts including mission planning, execution, briefing, debriefing, aircrew resource management and safety.
Operates the EO/IR sensor payload in support of customer requirements and successful execution of the mission.
Assists in development of the EO/IR sensor payload functionality
Assists in developing test plans, performs tests for new sensor features and provides feedback to a team of software engineers to optimize the new features
Helps develop and verify procedures for use with new sensor features; develops operational and safety procedures
Conducts demonstrations, participates in operational and experimental ground and flight tests, and represents the organization with DoD customers
Performs project administration functions as needed or required.
Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Typically requires a High School diploma or equivalent and nine or more years of previous sensor operator experience or experience with the operation of complex, integrated systems, preferably airborne sensors, including five or more years’ experience in EO/IR Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) or UAV operations with deployment experience. Equivalent professional or military experience in UAV operations or ISR may be substituted in lieu of education.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Physical Science is preferred.
Active DoD Secret Security Clearance is required along with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret Security Clearance.
Demonstrates an understanding of EO/IR sensors and tactical reconnaissance.
Must possess: (1) ability to obtain customer specific clearances; (2) ability to travel CONUS and OCONUS; (3) excellent analytical, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to accurately interface with all levels of employees, military and civilian customers, contractors and aircrew; (4) ability to maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive information; and (5) detailed knowledge of computer operations and applications.
The ability to work both independently and in a team environment is essential as is the ability to work extended hours and travel as required.
Previous sensor development and operations experience or experience with the operation of complex, integrated systems, preferably airborne sensors is highly desired.
