We have exciting opportunities for Communications Systems/Project Engineers in our Army Datalinks Project Engineering group to support the rapid growth of our remotely controlled Unmanned Aerial Vehicle systems (UAVs). We are looking for top-level engineering candidates who can analyze, investigate and resolve engineering tasks, design and integrate new air and ground datalink systems, as well as perform technical management of sub-contractors.
Duties and Responsibilities
Develop the architecture, requirements, and design for the state-of-the-art communications systems including Beyond Line Of Sight (BLOS) satellite communications and Line-Of-Sight (LOS) RF communications links for GA-ASI’s new and existing customers.
Support System Integration Lab (SIL) and Flight Line for HW / SW integration and testing of datalink and RF functions. Develop engineering test plans, procedures, and reports for moderate size / complexity tasks.
Perform as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to other engineering groups in the area of datalink and RF engineering. May provide direction to design and/or technical staff.
Requiring limited supervision, apply technical knowledge to support the engineering staff in the analysis, investigation and resolution of datalink and engineering tasks of moderate scope / complexity, and contribute with technical management of subcontractors.
Ability to communicate effectively with other Engineering disciplines, Program Management and Sub-contractor peers. Coordinate and interface with customers on requirements and flow down the requirements to the corresponding engineering groups.
Develop and present technical data to other engineering or management groups.
Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; four or more years of experience with a Bachelor’s degree, two or more years of experience with a Master’s degree or a minimum of 1 year of experience with a PhD. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.
Preferred experience in one or more of the following areas: satellite communications datalinks, LOS datalinks, wireless communications, tactical radio, antenna, RF design. Experience with datalink Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) integration is desirable.
Must have a general understanding of engineering concepts, principles, and theory with technical experience demonstrating the application of those concepts while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.
Must possess the ability to understand new concepts quickly and apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment, and organize work assignments to meet established timetables.
Must have strong communication, computer, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Will be required to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
Must be able to work extended hours as required. Willing to travel (including supporting flight tests) up to 25%.
