We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Project Engineer within our Quick Reactions Capability (QRC) Group. This Project Engineer will lead the implementation of new sensors, subsystems, and capabilities on GA-ASI Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, including the integration of new cameras, radar systems, communications systems and other sensors internal and external to the aircraft. The Project Engineer serves as the technical focal point for a program, both internal and external to the company, and covers programs through their entire life cycle, including: concept, proposal, design, build, test, and operational phases.

Essential Functions

  • Collaboratively guide a team of experts, including mechanical, structural, electrical, aerodynamic, software, network and manufacturing, in rapid design, build, and test efforts for airborne payloads.

  • Troubleshoot conflicting design/development requirements, difficult coordination requirements and system test configuration issues.

  • Leads integration and flight test efforts at GA-ASI’s flight test facilities and customer sites

  • Directs the technical content for project related estimates and proposals.

  • Leads weekly internal and customer-facing meetings.

  • Produces documentation and technical presentations, often for external distribution.

  • Represents the organization as the prime technical contact for a program.

  • Maintains the strict confidentiality of sensitive information.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Responsible for observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.

  • Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.

Job Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; six or more years of experience with a Bachelor’s degree, four or more years of experience with a Master’s degree, or two or more years with a PhD. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.

  • Must have a thorough understanding of engineering concepts to support interaction with subject matter experts in a broad array of engineering disciplines.

  • Must be able to interpret complex and sometime incomplete technical data to make decisions under tight timelines.

  • Must be able to maintain forward program progress under evolving requirements with limited direction.

  • Must have strong communication, computer, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills, capable of representing the organization as a prime technical contact.

  • Must be a self-study, quick learner and enjoy “hands-on” engineering.

  • Able to lead a team of professional employees

  • Able to work extended hours as required to support testing or flight activities.

  • Experience in the aerospace industry is desirable.

  • Must be able to obtain a security clearance.
