We are currently recruiting for a Ground Systems Integration Engineer to join the team. We are seeking an individual with a diverse background in software and hardware integration with a hands-on approach.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform system level design of the Ground Control Stations (GCS) for GA-ASI UAV system and ground related equipment.
Develop new designs or modifications of existing systems as required to meet project goals.
Assignments are normally outlined in terms of overall objectives and anticipated results.
Be self-motivated and self-reliant; able to work with minimal direction developing solutions to complex problems.
Work with other GCS team members to define system design requirements.
Work with other groups such as Software Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering and other functional Engineering groups as well as Program Management personnel to facilitate task completion.
Ability to broker solutions to problems exercising diplomacy involving many functional groups and personalities.
Troubleshoot, analyze, and repair systems in assigned area by utilizing standard engineering and scientific principles.
Be able to operate and troubleshoot issues in a development environment where creativity, learned system knowledge and technical expertise are the primary resources prior to development of established maintenance and troubleshooting procedures and trees.
Be able to operate and develop solutions to problems within boundaries of cyber security, TEMPEST, and overall system level requirements.
Familiar with MIL-STD-810 and MIL-STD-461 testing; able to support groups planning and executing such testing as the system project engineer knowledgeable on component functionality and context within the greater system
Working with CAD Designer and other engineering support organizations, produces documentation such as engineering drawings (interconnects, cables), source control drawings, system specifications, and test procedures.
Review, update or draft system level documents such as Hardware Requirement Specifications (HRS)
Provide documentation and makes technical presentations, such as PDR, CDR as required.
Interact with the customer to review or define project requirements.
Represent system and engineering team as primary POC when conducting integration testing in the lab and at ground test (at flight operations facility) reducing risk to formal test events later in the program.
Support system test team during ground and flight test events and see any issues to closure.
Typically requires a Bachelor's degree, Master's degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; six or more years of experience with a Bachelor's degree, four or more years of experience with a Master's degree, or two or more years with a PhD. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.
Must have a thorough understanding of engineering concepts, principles, codes, and theory; experience demonstrating a broad application of those concepts; and, expanding knowledge of principles, concepts, theory, and practices in related technical specialties.
Must possess the ability to develop and communicate new concepts; apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment; organize, schedule, and coordinate work phases; and, determine the appropriate approach at the task level or, with assistance, at the project level to provide solutions to a range of complex problems.
Must have strong communication, computer, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team; able to perform complex tasks in one or more engineering areas; capable of representing the organization as a prime technical contact and, lead a team of moderately experienced professional employees on single component projects.
Able to work extended hours as required. A Professional Engineering License and original work published in professional engineering journals are desirable.
Must be able to travel to test facilities to conduct integration and support system test events.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
