We have an exciting opportunity for an Experienced CNC Programmer to join our Machine Shop at GA-ASI, located in Poway, CA.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop and manage standard tool libraries.
Plans sequence of machine operation using drawings, sketches or other written or verbal instructions.
Performs precision work to exact tolerances for R&D and/or Production Engineering.
Utilizes and interprets engineering drawings from sketches, graphic illustrations or verbal/written correspondence to plan sequence of operations; compute angular and linear dimensions; determine cutting or grinding tools to be used, method of holding, and machine speeds and feeds and assists others with job layout.
Capability to design and fabricate tooling aids to assist in machine setups utilizing numerous shop equipment.
Solves extremely complex problems relative to work arrangement, unusual materials, machine settings, tools, product specification, and fabrication methods for production process.
Reviews and interprets job requests including drawings and service requests. Prepares the required schedule and cost estimates. Orders and expedites materials needed.
Typically requires an associate's degree, technical/trade school training or equivalent and fifteen or more years related experience. Additional experience may be substituted for formal education.
Must be customer focused and possess:
(1) ability to perform complex set-up and fabrication of machined parts with no direction;
(2) ability to lead, instruct and train machinist staff on operations, practices and techniques used in the machine shop;
(3) ability to read, interpret and explain complex or unusual engineering drawings, sketches and verbal and written instructions;
(4) strong interpersonal skills and written communication skills to interface with employees, management and customers/outside representatives; and
(5) basic computer skills.
Experience with Esprit programming software
Experience with Vericut or NC Simul verification software
Experience programming DMG-Mori, NT4250 DCG’s (or comparable machine models)
Experience programming Mazak, Integrex 100S’s (or comparable machine models)
Experience programming Mori-Seiki, ZT 1500YB’s (or comparable machine models)
Experience programming Okuma, Captain L370M’s (or comparable machine models)
Experience programming Okuma, LB3000EX’s (or comparable machine models)
Programs, performs setup and runs mills and lathes, which could include Mill-turn and Turn-mill machining centers.
Must have strong GD&T knowledge to interpret engineering drawings from sketches, graphic illustrations or verbal/written correspondence to plan sequence of operations; compute angular and linear dimensions; determine cutting or grinding tools to be used, method of holding, and machine speeds and feeds.
