We have an exciting opportunity for an Engineering Supervisor to lead a small, dynamic team of engineers and designers focused on ground support equipment (GSE) development and sustainment engineering projects. Reporting to the GSE Engineering Group Manager, the Supervisor will be responsible for the team’s productivity and development.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serve as the technical point of contact for the suite of GSE dedicated to the aircraft platform(s) of your assigned purview.

  • Supervise and direct the work of engineers and designers in resolving various activities associated with GSE at a detail level and at an aircraft platform level, overseeing outputs for consistency, accuracy and completeness.

  • Plan and schedule work assignments for the team, reporting status on regular intervals commensurate with program cadence and needs.

  • Monitor project schedules, timelines and deliverables using standard project management tools and report status to internal management.

  • Assure that internal and external customer needs are identified and addressed.

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members and serve as a resource to share specialized knowledge with the entire GSE Engineering group.

  • Define individual accountability and milestones to meet project objectives.

  • Communicate performance expectations and provide assistance to resolve problems encountered by the team.

  • Monitor and maintain manpower for engineering and design resources to support multiple projects.

  • Allocate and obtain resources necessary to complete a project (e.g. engineering drawing creation and tracking, test plan creation and execution, new product fit checks, off-site support).

  • Make recommendations on human resources actions (e.g. staffing, training, compensation, etc.).

  • Participate in and lead design reviews with internal teams, management, and external customers.

  • Generate requirements and recommendations on the acquisition and use of equipment, systems, or other capital expenditures.

  • Support design reviews and source inspections for GSE products custom-designed to GA-ASI specifications by subcontractors at suppliers’ locations (occasional travel is required).

  • Review and approve design, test plans, and detail drawings and parts lists supporting development of ground support equipment.

  • Support the development and approval of operational procedures, maintenance manuals, and associated reports generated by the Product Support Engineering (PSE) group. Generate and document intended operational characteristics and procedures for GSE usage and disseminate to other functional engineering groups through the use of engineering memos, interface control drawings, detailed design specifications, etc.

  • Support customer milestone events related to delivered GSE, including but not limited to: fit checks, logistical demonstrations, and trans-mobility testing.

  • Occasionally travel to GA-ASI’s flight operations facilities in Gray Butte, Adelanto & El Mirage (high desert in CA) and Yuma, AZ.

Job Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a Bachelor's degree, Master's degree or PhD in Engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; six or more years of experience with a Bachelor's degree, four or more years of experience with a Master's degree, or two or more years with a PhD. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.

  • Must have a thorough understanding of engineering concepts, principles, codes, and theory; experience demonstrating a broad application of those concepts; and, expanding knowledge of principles, concepts, theory, and practices in related technical specialties.

  • Must possess the ability to develop and communicate new concepts; apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment; organize, schedule, and coordinate work phases; and, determine the appropriate approach at the task level or, with assistance, at the project level to provide solutions to a range of complex problems.

  • Must have strong communication, computer, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team; able to perform complex tasks in one or more engineering areas; capable of representing the organization as a prime technical contact and, lead a team of moderately experienced professional employees on single component projects. Able to work extended hours as required.

  • A Professional Engineering License and original work published in professional engineering journals are desirable.

  • Prior Supervisory or Lead experience is preferred.
