We have an exciting opportunity for a Systems Integration Lab (SIL) Project Engineer to join the Aircraft Systems group, directly supporting the SIL Engineering team, here in Poway, CA.
Aircraft Systems is looking for experienced, cross-functional technical leaders with a strong background in Simulation and Hardware Engineering for a Project Technical Lead position. In this role, the selected candidate will be part of the SIL Engineering group with responsibilities that include technical leadership and direct contributions to programs, proposals, and planning efforts.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage simulation and hardware projects and cross-functional engineering teams as primary SIL Engineering point of contact. Execute to cost, schedule, and performance.
Work effectively with program management, senior leadership, customers, and functional engineering leads to plan and execute SIL projects/programs from cradle to grave.
Adhere to development processes; organize and lead technical reviews and gain stakeholder approval.
Collaborate and draw support and guidance from senior engineering staff and program management offices.
Take on high-level problems and organize a technical path forward.
Objectives are typically accomplished through matrix assigned engineering leads and/or project leaders.
Lead top-down and bottom-up requirements development, simulation system architecture, reviews, development and testing, and coordinate these activities with cross functional support teams.
Create technology development strategies in alignment with product/strategic roadmaps.
Typically requires a Bachelor's degree, Master's degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; four or more years of experience with a Bachelor's degree or two or more years of experience with a Master's degree.
May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.
Demonstrate proficiency in simulation/software and/or electrical development technologies, architectures, methodologies, processes, and the application of Systems Engineering principles to engineering development.
Ability to quickly grasp and understand the full scope of development activities and come up to speed quickly in new areas.
Excellent written, presentation, and verbal communication skills.
Must have a complete understanding of engineering concepts, principles, codes, and theory; experience demonstrating a broad application of those concepts; and, expanding knowledge of principles, concepts, theory, and practices in related technical specialties.
Must possess the ability to understand new concepts quickly; apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment; organize, schedule, and coordinate work phases; and, determine the appropriate approach at the task level or, with assistance, at the project level to provide solutions to a range of complex problems.
Must have excellent communication, computer, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team; able to perform complex tasks in one engineering area; and, lead a team of less experienced professional employees on semi-routine tasks.
Able to work extended hours as required.
The ability to obtain a DOD Secret Clearance is required.
