We have an exciting opportunity for a Lead RAM Engineer to join our Systems Safety/ Reliability Availability Maintainability Engineering Group in San Diego, CA.
Provides direction to design or technical staff and leads a team of moderately experienced professional staff. With limited direction, this position exercises considerable latitude for initiating and developing designs, procedures, techniques and solution to resolving advanced technical engineering problems. Assignments are normally outlined in terms of broad specifications, objectives, possible results anticipated and critical reference points requiring special attention. In this role, the successful candidate will work on an integrated Reliability and Safety team to support both customer risk acceptance, and airworthiness requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities
Provides expert guidance and consulting to other staff members working on difficult engineering problems.
Under general supervision, this position is supporting Reliability, Availability & Maintainability (RAM) Engineering Department activities related to the execution of RAM Programs and other RAM analyses for GA-ASI’s Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS).
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Ability to learn multiple aircraft subsystems to become an expert on how the systems work as a whole.
Development of a Reliability Program Plan, Reliability, Maintainability, and Testability Predictions and Allocations, Failure Modes Effects Criticality Analysis, circuit analysis including tolerance analysis, reporting and support of the Failure Tracking System (FRACAS), Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) Analysis.
Ability to impact design through clear and concise Reliability & Maintainability analysis and design requirements.
Assess reliability performance through system life cycle, provide trend analysis, develop and monitor reliability growth program, and participate in US Government scoring boards as required.
Support the design assurance processes, and other related milestones such as PDRs and CDRs.
Support System Safety hazard analyses as required
Anticipates future engineering needs and the modifications required to accomplish a technical goal
Analyze complex systems to determine potential for further development, production, interpretation, compatibility, or usefulness in a particular area, such as aviation.
Advocate for end users in collaboration with other professionals including engineers, designers, managers, or customers.
Typically requires a bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; nine or more years of experience with a bachelors degree, seven or more years of experience with a masters degree, or four or more years with a PhD. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.
Demonstrates an extensive technical expertise and application of engineering principles, concepts, theory, and practice with the ability to organize, plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate workloads to meet established deadlines or milestones with some experience in project leadership.
Must possess the ability to understand new concepts quickly and apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment.
Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required enabling an effective interface with other departments and/or professionals, and capable of representing the organization as a prime technical contact, as well as providing leadership and guidance to less experienced professionals.
Customer focused, formulates plans based on the development of innovative new designs in resolving advanced technical engineering problems. Must be able to work both independently and in a team environment.
Defense acquisition experience and knowledge a plus.
Experience with Unmanned Vehicles systems a plus.
Able to work extended hours as required.
A Professional Engineering License, original work(s) published in professional engineering journals, and invited to present one or more original works to an engineering symposium are desirable.
