We have an exciting opportunity for a Staff Electrical Engineer in the Electrical Engineering Field Production Support Group located in Poway, CA.
Under general directions with limited review, this sustaining position is responsible for troubleshooting unmanned air vehicle electrical components, electronics modules and aircraft electrical systems to support field operations and production.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Designing of test circuits, test fixtures and test cables to facilitate troubleshooting.
Responsible for gathering and analyzing test data.
Performing field failure investigations, failure analysis and generating failure reports.
Modifying electronics module circuit designs and production test procedures as needed due to failure investigations.
Traveling to desert test facilities, vendor facilities and customer sites to perform duties as needed.
Experienced electronics product/circuit designer highly desirable, preferably with aircraft or military product design experience.
Familiarity with all environmental testing, test equipment and environmental test procedures (temperature, humidity, shock, vibration, etc.).
Familiarity with MIL-STDs 704, 810, 5088, 461 and 464 and familiarity with DO-160.
Familiarity with LabVIEW and automated test equipment.
Familiarity with EMC/EMI testing and test equipment.
Requires a Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution; and (6) plus years of experience with a Bachelors or (4) plus years with a Masters or (2) plus years with a PhD.
Must have a complete understanding of engineering concepts, principles, codes, and theory; experience demonstrating a broad application of those concepts; and, expanding knowledge of principles, concepts, theory, and practices in related technical specialties.
Must possess the ability to understand new concepts quickly; apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment; organize, schedule, and coordinate work phases; and, determine the appropriate approach at the task level or, with assistance, at the project level to provide solutions to a range of complex problems.
Must have excellent communication, computer, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team; able to perform complex tasks in one engineering area; and, lead a team of less experienced professional employees on semi-routine tasks. Able to work extended hours as required.
