We have an exciting career opportunity for an Electrical Systems Engineer working in our Unmanned Aircraft Systems group. With limited direction, this position exercises considerable latitude for initiating and developing designs, procedures, techniques and solutions to resolving advanced technical engineering problems. Assignments are normally outlined in terms of broad specifics, objectives, possible results anticipated and critical reference points requiring special attention. Guides the successful resolution of engineering problems, serves as a consulting resource of engineering knowledge, applies the latest technological advancements to the problem, and may function in a project leadership role. Documents findings, communicates results to engineering staff, and may represent the organization as the prime technical contact on small identifiable projects. Provides direction to design or technical staff and may lead a team of moderately experience professional staff.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supports the design of electrical power systems, vehicle management/flight control systems, payload integration, etc.
Supports operation of engineering systems by evaluating and interpreting needs and problems and develops effective approaches to resolving those issues.
Analyze and interprets requirements at the aircraft level and flows down requirements to lower level specifications.
Evaluates and coordinates electrical system designs to ensure system-level requirements are met.
Provides documentation and makes technical presentations as required.
Provides technical coordination of vendors and suppliers.
Represent the organization in providing solutions to technical issues associated with specific projects.
Analyzes and troubleshoots systems using engineering and scientific principles.
Maintains the strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Responsible for observing all laws, regulations, and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.
Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
Typically requires a Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and nine or more years of engineering experience with a Bachelors degree; or seven or more years of experience with a Masters degree.
Demonstrates an extensive technical expertise and application of engineering principles, concepts, theory, and practice with the ability to organize, plan, schedule, conduct and coordinate workloads to meet established deadlines or milestones with some experience in project leadership.
Must possess the ability to understand new concepts quickly; apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment; estimate, schedule, and coordinate work phases; and, determine the appropriate approach at the task level or at the project level to provide solutions to a range of complex problems.
Must have excellent communication, computer, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team; able to perform complex tasks; and, lead a team of professional employees.
Customer focused, formulates plans based on the development of innovative new designs in resolving advanced technical engineering problems.
Experience with FAA Regulations, NATO Standards, Military Specifications, and other aerospace industry standards is desired.
All applicants must be current US Citizens for this position and must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
Experience with aircraft electrical systems is desired.
Able to work extended hours as required.
Aircraft pilot experience is desired but not required.
Able to travel to flight test facilities in Southern California and Arizona as required.
