The Desktop Engineering team performs a variety of support tasks for the GA enterprise to include: scripting, automation, architecture design, systems operations and advanced troubleshooting.

We have a need for a Desktop Engineer to join our team in San Diego, CA.

Under general supervision, this position is responsible for maintaining the smooth operation of multi-user computer systems. Duties may include application preparation for deployment with enterprise end-point management solution, creating and/or maintaining documentation, installing and configuring system software, and providing security to computing resources. Determines the method and procedure for resolving routine software and hardware failures. Provides technical information, prioritizes, and determines appropriate action on routine request from all levels of employees. Prepares and maintains various electronic and hard copy reports and logs. May make recommendations to purchase hardware and software, coordinate installation and may train internal users.


  • Apply engineering principles to the design and enhancement of systems

  • Ensure the security and integrity of system and product solutions

  • System Center Products - Support of infrastructure, agents, and reporting

  • System Center Configuration Manager - Software Distribution, Software Updates, Operating System Deployment, Compliance Settings

  • System Center Orchestrator: Engineering of Runbooks

  • Responsible for observing all laws, regulations, and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company. Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices

  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Job Qualifications:

  • Typically requires an Associate's degree in information technology or a related discipline, along with one or more year professional systems administration experience. Equivalent professional experience in information technology may be substituted in lieu of education.

  • Must demonstrate full knowledge of two or more system administration functions including system performance tuning and measurement, back-up, recovery, configuration, internet protocol, security/firewalls, web servers and load balancing.

  • Strong familiarity with Active Directory

  • Knowledge of and adherence to change control standards and procedures, problem resolution, and troubleshooting techniques

  • Powershell scripting

  • Knowledge of SCCM

  • Orchestrator

  • Azure experience

  • Requires an understanding of department policies and procedures, and a working knowledge of current personal computers, relevant operating systems and associated peripheral equipment.

  • Must be customer focused and demonstrate the ability: to resolve semi-routine technical situations; communicate with all levels of personnel; and, explain general information.

  • Must be able to schedule and coordinate work assignments to meet established completion dates.

  • Must be customer focused and possess: (1) the ability to identify issues, interpret data and develop solutions to a variety of routine and non-routine problems; (2) good analytical, verbal and written communication skills to accurately document and report findings; (3) good interpersonal skills to interface with all levels of employees; (4) the ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information; and (5) strong computer skills. The ability to work independently or in a team environment is essential as is the ability to work extended hours and travel as required.
