We have an exciting opportunity for a Cyber Security Software Engineer to join our Systems Engineering Department located in Rancho Bernardo, CA. In this position the employee will give support to GA projects and obtain/maintain the regulatory compliances such as Certification and Accreditation (C&A), Initial Authorization to Operate (IATO), Authorization to Operate (ATO). They will need to be able to analyze and recommend security features on both the user and software requirements. An advanced understanding of maintaining all configuration management artifacts will be key to this position.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Cyber Security Software Engineer must have experience assessing an over-arching set of environments including hardware/system configurations in order to:
Regulate and ensure best practices are being following
Identify where the business can best utilize resources
Communicate status of the project to stakeholders
Ensure risks are mitigated
Be responsive to information technology guidelines, policies and directives
Implement and maintain security patches and alerts for all host software and hardware
Knowledgeable in the C and C++ programming language
Knowledgeable in hardening and securing MySQL databases
Knowledgeable in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
Knowledgeable in networking
Ability to write scripts in Python, Bash, Perl, etc.
Familiar with Windows and Linux Operating Systems
Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Typically requires a bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in computer science, information systems or related discipline and progressive software development experience as follows; six or more years of experience with a bachelors degree, four or more years of experience with a masters degree, or two or more years with a PhD. May substitute equivalent experience in lieu of education.
Must have an understanding of encryption, firewalls, antivirus, Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA), Audit Coordination Support, Cyber Risk Management, Risk Management Framework (RMF), Information Systems Security Engineering, IA Compliance Measurements and Metrics, Assessment and Authorization Support, Vulnerability Management, IT Vulnerability Lifecycle Management, Vulnerability Identification and Remediation, etc. are required for this position.
Experience with understanding architect, planning, configuration, deployment, maintenance, and upgrade/customize toolsets to address vulnerabilities and/or implement security controls, etc. are required for this position.
Preferred certifications for the position include, but are not limited to: CompTIA, Security+ Must possess the ability to understand new concepts quickly and apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment.
Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required enabling an effective interface with other departments and/or professionals, and capable of representing the organization as a prime technical contact, as well as providing leadership and guidance to less experienced professionals.
Customer focused, formulates plans based on the development of innovative new designs in resolving advanced technical engineering problems.
Must be able to work both independently and in a team environment.
Able to work extended hours as required.
