We have an exciting opportunity for a Cybersecurity or Information Assurance (IA) Systems Engineer to join the cybersecurity engineering team in Poway, CA.

The candidate asked to join this team will be diverse in all aspects of information security to include security design assessments of hardware and software, vulnerability testing and analysis, Security Template Implementation Guide (STIG) compliance, security documentation preparation, management of subcontractors, and project engineering functions. The diverse and challenging projects and systems engineering tasks will provide an environment for those with the ability to approach problems from different viewpoints to succeed. The candidate will collaborate with highly motivated and intelligent problem solvers from all engineering disciplines and backgrounds to coordinate efforts toward obtaining Risk Management Framework (RMF) accreditations for multiple software and hardware configurations.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • The Cybersecurity Systems Engineer must be able to accomplish the following with limited supervision. The candidate must have experience assessing an over-arching set of environments including hardware, software, and system configurations in order to:

  • Regulate and ensure best practices are being following

  • Communicate status of the project to stakeholders

  • Identify vulnerabilities and document recommendations to properly mitigate findings Be responsive to information technology guidelines, policies and directives

  • Implement and maintain security patches and alerts for all host software and hardware

  • Have an understanding of encryption, firewalls, antivirus, Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA), Defense Information Assurance Certification and Accreditation Process (DIACAP)

  • Highly preferred certifications for the position include, but are not limited to:

  • CompTIA A+ CE

  • CompTIA Security+ CE

  • CompTIA Network+ CE

  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)

  • Other Department of Defense Directive (DoDD) 8140 (8570) compliant certification

  • Responsible for observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company

  • Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Job Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; four or more years of experience with a Bachelor’s degree or two or more years of experience with a Master’s degree. Equivalent engineering experience may be considered in lieu of education

  • Must have a thorough understanding of engineering concepts, principles, codes, and theory; experience demonstrating a broad application of those concepts; and, expanding knowledge of principles, concepts, theory, and practices in related technical specialties

  • Proficient in one or more operating systems such as Linux and Windows

  • Experience developing RMF certification and accreditation documentation for Department of Defense (DoD) information systems is preferred

  • Possess the ability to learn and implement multiple accreditation processes within DoD

  • Strong understanding of IP networks design, firewall configurations, and Host Based Security System (HBSS)

  • The skill to write information security related documentation and present technical reports to customers, peers and management is a must

  • Security+ and/or CISSP certifications are highly preferred

  • Ability to work extended hours and travel as needed

  • Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance
