We have an exciting opportunity for an Aircraft Fire Protection Engineer within Naval Aircraft Programs at GA-ASI.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop airborne fire protection requirements and architecture, including aircraft ventilation, isolation, detection, suppression, and insulation requirements.
Conduct design and analysis of the aircraft layout, arrangement and ventilation scheme and direct design efforts to comply with fire protection standards and specifications.
Manage fire protection supplier development and qualification efforts
Fire protection system design, requirements management, systems specifications, interface management, system safety assessment, verification and validation testing, aircraft flight test, and aircraft/system qualification and certification.
Develop innovative but practical solutions to advanced technical problems in engineering.
Provide focal point for technical communication within the Company management and represent the Company as the prime technical contact to customers and/or government regulatory agencies.
Present reports at engineering meetings, participate in program reviews and consult on problems.
Provide expert guidance and consulting to other staff members working on difficult engineering problems.
Anticipate future engineering needs and the modifications required to accomplish technical goals.
Address complex and difficult technical issues requiring novel and highly creative approaches drawing on advanced engineering concepts.
Maintain the strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Typically requires a Bachelors degree, Masters degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; six or more years of experience with a Bachelors degree, four or more years of experience with a Masters degree, or two or more years with a PhD.
Extensive familiarity with fire protection requirements from NAVAIR.
Experience with ECS, Fire Protection and Bleed Air systems integration, development, and testing.
Familiarity with RTCA DO-160, MIL-STD-810, and military and industry standards for component and system qualification.
Experience with creation of system specifications, requirements traceability, and verification. Preferred experience with JAMA and DOORS.
Generation of Qualification and Test plans.
Experience with aircraft installation practices, functional testing, and troubleshooting.
