We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Accounting Supervisor to join our Labor Accounting team that works within of our Finance and Administration group at General Atomics Aeronautical Systems located in Poway, Ca. This position will guide a team of Labor Accounting professionals in monitoring timecard entry, employee data set-up, reconciliation and end user support while having the ability to provide input on the introduction of new and innovative processes that will increase accuracy and efficiency. A successful team member must be adaptable and flexible to constant changing business requirements in both a technical and non-technical environment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides leadership and supervises the daily operation of the department by prioritizing and scheduling work assignments of staff such as support for organizations that include timecard processing, payroll/labor account reconciliations, timesheet and labor distribution analysis, specialized department timekeeping training for both employees and managers, floor check audits and providing top quality customer service via heavy phone and email communications.

  • Evaluates and provides input for policies, plans and schedules for the department, conduct quality control audits and evaluate work standards to ensure uniformity, effectiveness and recommend process improvement.

  • Ensures accuracy, completeness and timelines of accounting, compliance and operational activities, reports and records.

  • Participates in the design of operational procedures and processes that meet audit standards and improve efficiency.

  • Evaluates, develops, implements and monitors appropriate control procedures which safeguard the Company’s assets and assures compliance with policies.

  • Functions in a leadership role and provide guidance to staff of 6 people.

  • Assigns tasks, reviews work, and provides direction to staff while ensuring accounting objectives are met within established timelines.

  • Writes and issues employee performance reviews.

  • Provides weekly timekeeping training.

  • Works alongside various Labor Accounting areas to include systems and compliance as well as Human Resources and Government Accounting to improve deployment operational processes and compliance standards.

  • May analyze and interpret reports and records for senior leadership.

  • May represent the department with internal and/or external representatives.

  • May participate in annual audits and special projects.

  • Maintain the strict confidentiality of sensitive information.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related discipline and six or more year’s progressively complex experience in finance or accounting. May substitute equivalent experience in lieu of education.

  • Must demonstrate a complete understanding of labor law, accounting theories, concepts and principles, as well as a thorough understanding of generally accepted accounting principles, cost accounting standards, and FAR.

  • Must have proven leadership skills including organizing, planning, scheduling and coordinating workloads to meet established deadlines.

  • Must possess the ability to resolve non-routine management problems.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and good interpersonal skills.

  • Exceptional problem solving and analytic skills to perform detailed and often complex ad-hoc queries of labor and payroll data required.

  • Must be able to work on a self-initiated basis and in a team environment, and able to work extended hours and travel as required.

  • Knowledge of general business processes in “human resources”, “timekeeping”, and “payroll” areas.

  • Must possess the ability to contribute to the development of new processes, as well as effectively identify, analyze and resolve complex business process.

  • Considerable knowledge of MS Office with strong working knowledge of excel to include complex formulas, data computations and data analytics.

  • Knowledge/experience with ERP business systems is desired (SAP preferable).

  • Proven ability to evaluate work processes and implement measurable improvements in performance is desired.

  • Experience working in a Government contracting environment desired.
