Under close supervision with detailed instruction this position is responsible for participating in the planning, design, reconfiguration, maintenance, and alteration of buildings, structures, machinery, equipment and other facilities. Following established policies, procedures, and standard practices, contributes to the resolution of routine problems, typically of limited scope and complexity, to achieve desired results of the assigned facilities activities. May respond to and resolves multiple simultaneous inquiries. Responsibilities involve the exercise of independent judgment and discretion about matters of significance.
Gathers data concerning facility modifications including requested modifications, company policies, regulatory requirements, and required completion dates.
Participates in the preparation of bid sheets and contracts for construction and facilities acquisitions.
May participate in the review of estimated design costs including equipment, installation, labor, materials, preparations, and other related costs.
May coordinate the inspection of construction and installation progress to ensure conformance to established drawings, specifications, and schedules.
Participates in updating, reporting, and filing appropriate documentation.
Maintains and updates various electronic and hard copy records.
Uses ladders and lifts both above ground and on rooftops of buildings to develop statements of work and conduct building inspections.
Maintains the strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
Responsible for observing all laws, regulations, and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company. Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
Additional Functions Other duties as assigned or required.
Typically requires a bachelor's degree in facilities, engineering, architecture or a related discipline. Equivalent professional experience may be substituted in lieu of education.
Must demonstrate a basic understanding of construction principles, theories and concepts as well as building codes involved in construction and construction planning.
Must be familiar with Industry Construction Standards and best practices.
Must have project management skills including organizing and coordinating work assignments to meet project milestones or established completion dates.
Must be customer focused and possess: (1) a valid California driver's license with a good driving record verified by the DMV; (2) good verbal and written communication skills to accurately document and report findings to a limited audience; (3) good interpersonal skills to effectively interface with, negotiate and resolve conflicts; and, (4) good computer skills.
Ability to work independently or in a team environment is essential as is the ability to work extended hours and travel as required.
