We have an exciting opportunity for a Software Developer at our General Atomics Systems Integration (GA-SI) group in Kaysville, UT. Under general directions with limited review, this position independently this position develops, tests, and/or modifies end-user, system level, embedded, and data management software.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Determines requirements, specifications, and plans for software development within the broader organizational scope. Software development includes end–user, system level, embedded, and data management applications.
Participates in a team environment executing full lifecycle software development, managing requirements, design, code, test, maintenance, and integrating real-time embedded software for aerospace applications.
Supports the formulation of detailed plans for the implementation of software solutions. In addition to embedded software/hardware systems and real time software design, this position includes determining language, platform, and resource requirements.
Codes in object oriented C/C++ and applies understanding of Assembly for embedded and driver development.
Generates documentation including software requirements, plans, procedures, and reports utilizing associated tools following company processes supporting certifiable products.
Deploys applications in a cross-platform environment and ensures availability of necessary resources.
Provides direction to less experienced developers.
Follows aerospace industry standards ARP4754 and DO-178.
Responds to and resolves software discrepancies for code maintenance including debug and updating in a change management controlled environment.
Communicates with the software developer group, with users, and with management.
May assist in the development of additional sources of revenue.
Maintains the strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
Responsible for observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company. Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Typically requires a bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in computer science, information systems or related discipline and progressive software development experience as follows; six or more years of experience with a bachelors degree, four or more years of experience with a masters degree, or two or more years with a PhD. May substitute equivalent experience in lieu of education.
Must have a thorough understanding of software development concepts, principles, and theory and demonstrate a thorough understanding and application of programming and analysis concepts.
Must possess the ability to develop and communicate new concepts and apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment.
Ability to organize, schedule, and coordinate work phases and determine the appropriate approach at the task level or, with assistance, at the project level to provide solutions to a range of complex problems.
Must have strong communication, computer, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills, able to perform complex tasks in one or more software development area; capable of representing the organization as a prime technical contact and, lead a team of moderately experienced professional employees on single component projects.
The ability to work independently and as part of team is essential.
Must be able to work in a team environment, which may require extended hours to meet time deadlines.
Ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Security Clearance is required.
Able to work extended hours as required.
