We have an exciting opportunity for a Systems Engineer in our Systems Engineering Department in Huntsville, AL. This position directly supports the Systems Engineering and Integration group managing requirements development, functional decomposition, and requirements verification of EMS products.


  • Responsible for requirement development, interface to scoping, and management of databases.

  • Work with engineering team to define system and software cyber security requirements and develop secure solutions to meet requirements.

  • Functional decomposition of systems.

  • Perform cyber security Failure Modes and Effects Analyses (FMEA) and Failure Modes, Effects, and Criticality Analyses (FMECA).

  • Assess proposed design and requirement changes to determine impacts to cyber security.

  • Support development of new/revised design requirements related to cyber security.

  • Supports integration, trouble-shooting and test of hardware and software as required.

  • Facilitates requirements development and plans work to meet downstream needs.

  • Demonstrates expert knowledge of system and derived requirements including verification.

  • Focus on obtaining customer and stakeholder approval and make sure derived requirements are met.

  • Drive rapid resolution of delays that impact verification. Real-time, thorough communication with management and leadership is required.

  • Synchronize verification cross-reference matrix with requirement revisions, design changes, master schedule dates, schedule delays, and changes to planned tests and analysis.

  • Identify existing data sources that efficiently satisfy requirements verified by inspection.

  • Collaborate daily with GA and customer systems engineering, design, logistics, and other teams on verifications related to inspection, test, and analysis.

  • Assess proposed design and requirement changes to determine impacts to verification, including verification schedule, and assist change authors to include verification in change requests.

  • Implement approved verification changes.

  • Directs activities of design or technical staff and may lead a team of moderately experienced professional staff.

  • Provides documentation and makes technical presentations as required.

  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Job Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; twelve or more years of experience with a bachelors degree, ten or more years of experience with a masters degree, or seven or more years with a PhD. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance is required.

  • Demonstrates an extensive technical expertise and application of engineering principles, concepts, theory, and practice with the ability to organize, plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate workloads to meet established deadlines or milestones with some experience in project leadership.

  • Must possess the ability to develop and communicate new concepts; apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment; organize, schedule, and coordinate work phases; and, determine the appropriate approach at the task level or, with assistance, at the project level to provide solutions to a range of complex problems.

  • Must have strong communication, computer, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team; able to perform complex tasks in one or more engineering areas; capable of representing the organization as a prime technical contact and, lead a team of moderately experienced professional employees on single component projects.

  • Able to work extended hours as required.Experience with Matlab, C, C++, Python, and other programming languages desirable.

  • Highly desirable: experience using JAMA, MagicDraw, DOORS, or CORE requirements management tools.
