We have an exciting opportunity for a Project Engineer within our Quick Reactions group in Grand Forks, North Dakota. This position supports the Project Engineering Payload Integration Team, providing systems engineering and technical management of new sensors and payloads onto GA-ASI, Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS).

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate and interface with customers, contractors, and engineering groups assigned to projects.

  • Develop program plans, estimates, and schedules.

  • Perform system analysis, generate requirements, and develop system designs.

  • Support the development of test plans and manage the integration, verification and validation of payloads through flight test.

  • Development and presentation of technical material for review.

  • Supports operation of engineering systems and documents any problems.

  • May represent the organization as the prime technical contact on small contracts or single component projects.

  • Provides direction to design or technical staff and may lead a team of moderately experienced professional staff.

  • Responsible for observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company. Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.

  • Supervise the teams efforts to support Systems Integration Laboratory (SIL) testing, aircraft ground testing, and flight testing at various company and customer owned test sites

  • Manage the development, review and approval of test plans, test procedures and test reports in coordination with input from software engineers, design engineers, project engineers, program management, and customer personnel

  • Perform system level Qualification, Verification and Validation Testing of hardware and software with emphasis placed on deriving and tracking test requirements

  • Enforce all required Test & Evaluation processes including but not limited to: Test Plan Working Groups (TPWGs), Technical Review Boards (TRB), Test Readiness Reviews (TRR) and Safety Review Boards (SRB)#LI-ASI

Job Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a Bachelo'rs degree, Master's degree or PhD in Engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive Engineering experience as follows; six or more years of experience with a Bachelor's degree or four or more years of experience with a Master's degree.

  • May substitute equivalent Engineering experience in lieu of education.

  • Must have a complete understanding of engineering concepts, principles, codes, and theory; experience demonstrating a broad application of those concepts; and, expanding knowledge of principles, concepts, theory, and practices in related technical specialties. Must possess the ability to understand new concepts quickly; apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment; organize, schedule, and coordinate work phases; and, determine the appropriate approach at the task level or, with assistance, at the project level to provide solutions to a range of complex problems.

  • Must have experience with Satellite Communications (SATCOM) Datalinks and Network architecture and configurations.

  • Must have excellent communication, computer, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team; able to perform complex tasks in one engineering area; and, lead a team of less experienced professional employees on semi-routine tasks.

  • Able to work extended hours as required.

  • A Professional Engineering License is desirable.
