We have an exciting opportunity for a Manufacturing Support Technician in our Advanced Product Development Department located in Adelanto, California.
Under general supervision with detailed instructions and intermittent review, this position will performs and/or assists in modification, fabrication, assembly, operations, installation, repair and maintenance of general laboratory, experimental or commercial equipment. Performs non-routine manufacturing of composite and metal parts and structures. Works to blueprints, templates, sample parts, process sheets, and other authorized information.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work with engineers to create, modify, and test products while solving technical problems.
Performs prototype manufacturing from visual/verbal descriptions, sketches, blue prints, templates, guides or specific dimensions, and sample parts.
Designs and builds prototype tooling/molds for composite parts. Develops shop aids to facilitate fabrication, trimming and assembly as required.
Fit and smooth successive layers of composite materials as necessary to secure build-up free from wrinkles, air pockets.
Assemble aircraft components using structural adhesives, rivets and threaded fasteners.
Fabricate steel/aluminum structures and form sheet metal parts using a variety of machinist hand tools and precision measuring instruments such as drill presses, lathes, manual mills, saws, breaks, grinding equipment, welders and others as required.
Responsible for observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company. Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
Help maintain and clean and safe work area by retuning tools, equipment and materials to storage areas, preforming housekeep duties as needed.

Typically requires associate's degree or equivalent with two or more years of experience. May substitute equivalent experience in lieu of education.
Must be able to work with common hand tools and operate laboratory equipment.
Must have the capability to perform complex assignments with little or no direction.
Ability and willingness to work on systems which have unusual conditions such as high pressure, high voltage, high energy, cryogens, or radioactive materials.
Knowledge of computer operations and applications pertinent to the field required.
